North Coast of the Landes : between Ocean & lakes…

  • Biscarrosse

The tradition Museum of Biscarrosse : open from half May to half September, it proposes you boats rides in the heart of biscarrosse marshes – 0033 (0)5 58 78 77 37.

Hydraviation Museum : Located on the legendary site of the former base Latécoère, it tells you the story of the worldwide Hydraviation, from his first flight in 1910 to nowadays. Open all year round – – 0033 (0)5 58 78 00 65.


The Abbey and its bell tower :Do not leave Mimizan without visiting its abbey and its bell tower. Jewel of the Middle Age, it is now World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The tour also includes a museum tracing the history of Biscay and, the formation of dunes and forests. Open all year round- – 0033 (0)5 58 09 00 61.

  • Contis

The Lighthouse : During your holidays in Contis, don’t forget to visit the lighthouse from May to September. the only lighthouse in this departmen, the sight at the top is amazing. Details on :

9km away from Contis, the Museum of the Yesteryears Lands welcomes you from June to September in Lit et Mixe – – 0033 (0)5 58 42 89 17.


The South Coast : «sea, surf and sun…»

  • Hossegor

Go around the marine lake of Hossegor via the pedestrian path. Discover the history of the city and you will also find an explanation on birds, fish and oyster farming.

  • Capbreton

Located 5 minutes away from Hossegor, this little seaside town is famous for its fishing port and marina. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, the Capbreton harbour, the only one in the Landes, is the privileged entrance to a city with a rich maritime past, in the heart of a preserved natural environment. Every day the fish market sales directly on the dock.

Ecomuseum of Marquèze : Real authentic district of the Landes, you will discover the lifestyle of the past thanks to a small but historic train through a collection of objects and meticulously collected antique machinery for over 40 years. Different activities are offered (spring festival and shepherds, sheep shearing, maïade, feast of St. John, various exhibitions …). Open from April to September – – 0033 (0)5 58 08 31 31.



Dax, Pays d’Orthe and Chalosse, between Adour and coteaux

  • Brassempouy

Back to prehistoric times … The caves of Brassempouy and the Lady’s House. Open all year round- – 0033 (0)5 58 89 21 73.

  •  Montfort

Chalosse Museum : A few minutes from Dax, between the pine forest and the Pyrenees, Chalosse, with its fertile and hilly landscape, offers another face of the Landes. Farmland, visit master of the house, the cellar, bread oven … Open all year round- – 0033 (0)5 58 98 69 27.


Mont de Marsan & the Landes Armagnac

  •  Mont de Marsan :

Arte Flamenco Festival followed by Ferias de la Madeleine are unmissable.
Further east, we are in Armagnac, specifically in the land of Bas Armagnac. Land of history and heritage, a detour of Armagnac Labastide and St Justin is required. These new towns of the Middle Ages are still saved witnesses of life in the twelfth century houses.
It is also a region rich in gastronomy and local product. Feel free to taste local distilleries in our old beverage: Armagnac! (brandy wine made by distilling dry white wine). The Armagnac Landes, this is the tasters heaven. Find all the culinary specialties of our land and our eau-de-vie producers, Armagnac, cheese, through the wines, canneries and other sweets. Do not miss the foie gras, jams and famous poultry.

The Landes, it is also music & ferias !

331 villages = 331 festivals a year! Each village has its festival. This is an opportunity to get together with family or friends and passing visitors are always welcome. Many activities are available around the Landes traditions, at the rhythms of the bandas. From March to September, the Course Landaise, traditional Gascon sport, is a highlight of these celebrations. The beauty of the jumps,boleros colors, competitive spirit and music are the ingredients of this emblematic sport of Gascogne culture. This race has the particularity of not being violent towards animals; rather, it serves to reveal the qualities of the Landes bullfighter and those of the cow. So guard yourselves in white and red and become an excellent Festayre!!
